Professor Raphael Specializes in nineteenth- and twentieth-century American and British literature and Holocaust literature, on which she teaches a course for the Judaic Studies Program. Her publications include "There's No Space Like Home: The Representation of Jewish-American Life in Abraham Cahan, Anzia Yezierska, Philip Roth, and Cynthia Ozick" in The Columbian History of Jews and Judaism in America (2007), and Narrative Skepticism: Moral Agency and Representation of Consciousness in Fiction (2001). She also edited, When Night Fell: An Anthology of Holocaust Short Stories (1999). In addition to her contributions to the Judaic Studies Program she also currently serves on the GWU Hospital Ethics Committee, and as the Director of Track in Medical Humanities.
